According to my research, the composition of the magma changed during the last major volcanic eruptions, where an increased proportion of water vapor emissions and less sulfate aerosol brines were found. This changed chemistry is dramatic because volcanic eruptions then contribute significantly to global warming and not to cooling. There are speculations on the Internet as to why this changed chemism of the magma may be caused, but there is no scientific evidence yet. Because there are still few and new measurements, there are no reliable forecasts about future volcanic eruptions. So it can be feared that the magma has generally changed, but it doesn't have to be.

In my diploma thesis in 1988, I examined the deeper subsoil in the Rhenish Slate Mountains and the surrounding area in Germany using a wide variety of geological and geophysical data and computer simulations. In the geophysical literature I came across the model of the mantle diapir - these are upward protrusions of the Earth's mantle in smaller local areas in the subsurface. This could result in increased pressure being exerted on magma from below and possibly lead to a change in the chemistry of the magma. In my work, I also presented laboratory data from rock inclusions that come from the depths of the old Eifel volcanoes in maps depending on age. If one searches ancient literature, one may also find altered chemism of ancient volcanic rocks and their inclusions in areas of mantle diapirs.
